Dry Top Repair

I have a few small tears in my dry top and I have a repair kit. Maybe I just don't get it :oops:but the instructions don't specify if the repair patch should be put on the inside or outside of the dry top. Any tips on how to repair a dry top?

Logic would imply the outside. Even though it is visually bad, it would insure no water would enter the drytop.
