Guess I'm the newest noobie here. Sent in my application (and a friend is supposed to send in his also) first of the week. Read about the club last year and finally got around to checking it out. I'm also a noobie recreational kayaker and at 64, don't know if I'm up to whitewater as yet (other than soda for my drink). We have kayaked for about a year; I have an Old Town Cayuga 146 (w/rudder) and around here, we usually go to Kiser Lake and have also taken a trip down the Mad River. In October, 4 of us went to Tybee Island, GA and rode bikes and kayaked.

I live in Troy with my wife Sondra and retired from Reynolds and Reynolds 2 1/2 years ago. Love every minute of retirement! Haven't had this much fun since the 8th grade (before dad made me get a paper route). My friend and I are looking forward to joining in some group tours.

We also ride bicycles and ride anywhere from 2,000 - 2,500 miles/year. We've done the RAGBRAI and yearly do the Horsey 100 in Georgetown, KY.

We have enrolled in the rolling classes this coming February and plan on taking self rescue classes right after that. We are looking forward to participating with the group.

Regards,

Larry salyer :boat:

P.S. Does anyone have a used bend paddle or other used gear for sale?

...for what it's worth, I'll probably be out on Caesar's Creek Lake
this weekend.

Hey, welcome! I'm the Secretary, and I'll be getting your membership this week. I road bike a lot, I've done the Horsey Hundred (it's great to combine with a paddle on the Elkhorn, a class II run west of Georgetown), and I could show you a really wonderful ride around the Red River Gorge, which is on the way to Russell Fork. Being retired is heaven - you can add on to trips with out time restraints.

As far as gear, you could put a "wanted to buy" in the gear swap forum and see what turns up!
